Impactful Visit to Meruebo-Ok Mosque, Narathiwat

A Journey of Support and Assessment

Our recent visit to the Meruebo-Ok Mosque community in Cho-airong, Narathiwat, was a significant step in our ongoing mission to provide clean and safe drinking water to communities in need. Disaster Aid Thailand, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Jomtien Pattaya and the Rotary Club of Pattaya Banglamung, aimed to evaluate the impact of the Sky Hydrant water filtration system installed six months prior and to continue our support for the residents.

Community Engagement

Upon our arrival, the warm welcome from the local community was heartening. The Meruebo-Ok Mosque community, which includes two villages with approximately 500-600 households, has greatly benefited from the Sky Hydrant system. The community leaders and residents gathered to share their experiences and the positive changes brought about by the access to clean water.

Benefits Realized

– Households Benefited The system has provided approximately 500-600 households with clean drinking water.

– Daily Water Consumption Each resident now receives about 2.5-2.8 liters of safe drinking water per day.

– The mosque utilizes this water for prayer rituals, ensuring the community can maintain their religious practices with clean water.

Coping with Drought

During the severe drought period from February to May 2024, the community faced extreme challenges. Vegetation withered, and water sources dwindled, making everyday life difficult. The Sky Hydrant system became a lifeline, providing essential drinking and cooking water. This access significantly alleviated the hardships faced by the residents during this critical time

System Efficiency

– Sediment Screen Operating at full efficiency, effectively removing larger particles from the water.

– 200-Liter Water Tank Fully functional, ensuring a steady supply of water for filtration.

– Sky Hydrant Water Filter Working at full capacity, delivering safe and clean drinking water.

– 1,000-Liter Drinking Water Tank Also operating efficiently, providing ample storage for filtered water.

Community Feedback

The residents expressed immense gratitude for the water filtration system. They shared personal stories of improved health and well-being, attributing these positive changes to the availability of clean water. The community leaders highlighted the critical role the system played during the drought, emphasizing its importance to their daily lives.
