The Visit to Wat Lamphu, Narathiwat

Overview:

During our recent mission to Narathiwat, Disaster Aid Thailand, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Jomtien Pattaya and the Rotary Club of Pattaya Banglamung, made a significant visit to the Wat Lamphu community. This visit was aimed at assessing the impact of the Sky Hydrant water filtration system installed six months ago and providing ongoing support to the residents.

Community Engagement:

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the local residents and community leaders. The sense of community spirit and cooperation was evident as we gathered to discuss the progress and benefits of the water filtration system. Approximately 500 households in the Wat Lamphu area have been benefiting from the clean drinking water provided by the Sky Hydrant system.

Water Usage and Benefits:

– Households Benefited, Around 500 households now have access to safe drinking water.

– Daily Water Consumption, Each resident receives about 2.5 liters of drinking water per day.

– The availability of clean water has significantly improved the health and well-being of the community, reducing the incidence of waterborne diseases and providing a reliable source of water for daily needs.

Condition of the Filtration System

– Sediment Screen, Operating at medium efficiency, effectively removing larger debris from the water.

– 200-Liter Water Tank, Fully functional, storing water for filtration.

– Sky Hydrant Water Filter, Operating at full efficiency, ensuring the water is safe for consumption.

– 1,000-Liter Drinking Water Tank, Also fully operational, providing ample storage for the filtered water.

Observations

One key observation during our visit was that the Sky Hydrant unit was exposed to direct sunlight. To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the system, we advised the community to implement better management practices, such as providing shade or a protective cover to shield the unit from the harsh sunlight.

Community Feedback

The residents expressed their gratitude for the installation, highlighting how the clean water supply has alleviated many challenges they previously faced. They shared stories of improved health and the positive impact on their daily lives, emphasizing the importance of this resource in their community.

Conclusion

The visit to Wat Lamphu was a testament to the successful collaboration between Disaster Aid Thailand, the Rotary Clubs, and the local community. The Sky Hydrant water filtration system has brought substantial benefits, enhancing the quality of life for the residents. Our ongoing support and monitoring will ensure that these benefits continue and that the system remains effective for years to come.

Looking Forward

We are committed to continuing our support for the Wat Lamphu community. Plans are in place to address the exposure of the filtration unit to sunlight and to provide additional resources as needed. Our goal is to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the water supply system, contributing to the overall resilience and well-being of the community.
